There is nothing quite like the start of a new year and, this week, I have encouraged the girls to think about how they can be the best versions of themselves this year. To think about the choices they will make and how they will take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead of them in 2026

There is nothing quite like the start of a new year and, this week, I have encouraged the girls to think about how they can be the best versions of themselves this year. To think about the choices they will make and how they will take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead of them in 2026

In my start of term assembly, we focused on British Values, looking particularly at 'mutual respect'. We explored how at EHS Prep School we treat others the way we want to be treated and we value differences and similarities. Together, the girls are going to work together to create an 'Every Face Matters' art installation to celebrate every child in the school. Once this art work is complete, it will don the walls of the Prep School as a reminder that every face is different, every person is important and that respect means valuing each individual exactly as they are. My hope is that this art installation will be a wonderful reminder of the incredible girls who make the EHS Prep School community so special.

This week, it has been lovely to welcome back pupils from the Senior School pupils who come down to the Prep School to listen to the girls read. Our 2-18 through school environment provides the perfect opportunity for older girls to become mentors and role-models for the younger pupils and, for many of them, it is a key part of their Duke of Edinburgh award. Many of these girls previously attended the Prep School and act as 'big sisters' for our girls. I know they also love the opportunity to visit their old classrooms and to chat with staff who may have taught them.

As I write, snow is falling heavily across the school and I am sure there will be squeals of delight from the girls when they open their curtains in the morning. Childhood is such a precious time and I am incredibly proud that at EHS Prep School the girls' days are filled with challenge and academic rigour, but also with joy and laughter, ones that will fill them with happy memories for years to come.

With warmest wishes,

Mrs N Hobson

Head of Preparatory School
