This term in PSHEE, our Year 8 pupils have been working incredibly hard on their entries for the Next Generation Awards, organised by the Birmingham Civic Society.

The initiative challenges young people to develop a creative and practical idea that would improve life in our city, encouraging them to think carefully about community needs and how they can make a positive difference.

Our girls truly rose to the challenge. During their PSHEE lessons, they refined their ideas, carefully considered costings and budgets, and practised delivering confident, professional presentations. The project has been a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop key life skills, including teamwork, public speaking, financial awareness and problem-solving.

Last Friday, the strongest project from each form group presented to a panel of external judges. We are delighted to share that the judges were highly impressed with all seven presentations, praising both the creativity of the ideas and the professionalism of the delivery.

The proposals reflected genuine compassion and thoughtfulness, from creating care packages for those less fortunate to developing initiatives aimed at supporting and entertaining elderly members of the community. It was fantastic to see our pupils thinking beyond themselves and considering how they can contribute positively to the wider city.

We now patiently await news of whether any of our teams have been selected to take part in the external semi-finals in July. We are incredibly proud of the effort, maturity and commitment shown by all involved.

Good luck to our teams, we have everything crossed for you!
